Practice on 5/7/2008 = Rain again

Wollaber racing loaded up and made the trip up to DTRP on Wednesday to try to get some track time in before the Bud 50 this coming Saturday. Persistent light showers canceled the day before the new #5 could roll onto the track. We were able to run the car through the gears to break in the new transmission and get through safety inspection so we should be ready to roll come Saturday Morning.

Saturday looks to bring a solid field of Modifieds out to DTRP and a big thanks should go to Lori for all her hard work in the off season getting these guys to come out to the former Lancaster Speedway. With building a new car we were hoping to get some track time to get the #5 dialed in but the weather did not cooperate so we will have to expedite the process on Saturday Morning. We are back to our setup that took the 2004 Track championship so we should be close but with the new Pinto rack car there are some unknowns.

Should be an exciting opening day with the new 50 Lap distances and a good field of Modifieds. The weather looks great so come out and support your local racing!

Crunch Time

4/30/2008:

Opening Day at Dunn Tire Raceway park is just around the corner, and with plenty of work left to do on the #5 Modified, the crew is working overtime to get the car ready. If the weather cooperates the plan is to bring the Wollaber Racing modified out for practice this Saturday 5/3/2008 at DTRP.

After much suspense we were finally able to hear our 18 deg Aluminum head motor run last night down at the shop. Now its on to setup to get all our geometry right and then finishing touches to be ready for practice this Saturday.

Bringing back the BLACK #5!!

Dave Wollaber Racing has purchased a 2003 Troyer Modified and is busy in the Ransomville shop preparing the car for the upcoming 2008 season. The upcoming season brings excitment as well as new challenges to the Wollaber Racing team, as we are going after another modified championship but this time without a seperate car owner. We are fortunate to be bringing with us many of our long time sponsors who have helped us be sucessful in the past.
The 2008 car will bring back a familiar number and a familiar paint scheme. Dave will be back in the BLACK #5 just like the one we raced for Dick Stone/Vinny Christiano and took the 2004 Modified Track Championship with.
After a year off from Modified racing, Dave and crew are chomping at the bit to get back to the track and go for another title. Although Dave did not wheel a Mod last season he still managed to pick up two championships behind the wheel of his Christiano #1 TQ Midget. Picking up 10 wins on his way to the Lancaster (now DTRP) and Casey's Series campionships.
The schedule for 2008 is still tentative at this time but the goal is to run all the Dunn Tire Raceway Park (formerly Lancaster Speedway) Modified Shows as well as the ROC modified races at Oswego. Dave will also be piloting the #1 TQ whenever his schedule allows. Our Modified schedule will be largely dependent on the financial situation of the race team. Any parties interested in sponsorship please email me at sidebojj@yahoo.com.
More to come....

Season Coming to a Close

ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP FOR DAVE WOLLABER!

9/26/2006:

Only one race left on the DeLANGE racing modified schedule. The US Open at Lancaster has been postponed due to weather until 10-7-2006. The TQ midget portion of the US Open will be run this Saturday 9/30, along with the Late Models and Streetstocks

Dave is the 2006 Modified Champion! Dave has picked up his second modified track championship in his young career in a tie with 9-time champion Sege Fidanza. Both drivers had the same amount of Points, wins, seconds, and thirds so it goes in the books as Co-Champs. Read a write up on the DeLange Racing website : 2006 Champion

Dave Wins the Mid Season Championship! Dave took home the win in the Lancaster Mid Season championship race on Sunday 8/6/2006. Pulling an all-nighter after the ROC race at Oswego Saturday night, Dave and crew rolled into Lancaster and took home the win in dominant fashion. Dave took the lead on lap-3 and never looked back. This win ended up boosting Dave into the Championship due to the weather cancellations at the end of the season. Read a write up on the DeLange Racing website: Mid Season Win!

Catching up...Bad Luck for #45

Its been awhile but here are the results from our recent string of bad luck for Dave and the DeLange Racing team.

5/13 Lancaster : RAIN
5/20 Lancaster : RAIN

5/27 Oswego : Dave and the DeLANGE racing team had a good run going in the 100 lap ROC North series opener. Dave was working his way through the field after a great pit stop until two cars running right in front of Dave got together and spun leaving Dave no where to go. Dave got tangled with the cars in front damaging the #45 modified beyond the point of return.

6/3 Lancaster : RAIN
6/10 Lancaster : MODS OFF

6/11 WCIS (TQ) : Another Casey's TQ race at WCIS, another win for Dave in the Englewood collision #1 TQ Midget. Dave won in a great battle with the #93 of Jared Turnbull to take home his first checkered flag of 2006.

6/17 Lancaster : In the TQ Midget feature Dave was working on the outside of the #9, when the inside car drove up into the side of Dave putting him back in the field and resulting in a 7th place finish for the #1 TQ. Congrats to Erick Rudolph on taking home the win. In the Modified Feature Dave was forced to start in the back after LRP put him a lap down in the heat race. Dave was quickly working his way to the front when a wreck happened in front of him. Dave was able to get the #45 safely slowed down just in time for the #44 to plow into the back of Dave damaging the rear of the car and pushing him into the pile damaging the RF as well. The crew got Dave back out but he was laps down from repairing the damage on the RF.

6/18 WCIS: Dave was having a great run in the 75-lap ROC North race at "Perry" looking to break out of recent string of bad luck when it happened again. Dave was running in 5th place saving his tires for a end of the race to battle for the win, when a piece of the track hit the oil cooler causing an oil leak from the #45 and forcing Dave to pull off the track. WCIS had the track surface in turn 4 and turn 1 coming apart, throwing chunks of asphalt and damaging many good cars by taking out oil coolers, radiators, and cutting tires. WCIS appears to have addressed the issue and racing should be much improved next time the Mods roll into Wyoming County.

6/24 Lancaster: Dave used the outside groove and a fast car to take second place behind our DeLange racing teammate of Bobby Holmes in the heat race. Dave would start the feature in seventh position quickly moving up to fourth early in the race, then the bad luck struck again. Running side by side behind Dave was the #8 and the #12 of Tom McGrath, the two cars we banging down the back stretch when the #12 of McGrath forgot to slow down for the corner clipping the back of Dave and causing both cars to spin and go to the back of the field. Dave was able to work his way back to 5th before the checkers flew.

7/1 Lancaster ROC: We look to break out with a win at the Firecracker 75-Lap ROC North Race this Saturday.

4-30 LRP & 5-7 OSWEGO RESULTS:

Oswego ROC Central race:

Dave and the DeLange Racing team had a solid performance in their first ROC race with the new team. Dave had a good draw for the heat and qualified for the feature with a second place run in his heat race. After the redraw Dave would be starting on the inside of row 2 behind his DeLange Racing teamate, Bobby Holmes. At the start of the race Sege Fidanza would take the lead from the #22 of Bobby Holmes and the top 3 (Fidanza, Holmes, Wollaber) would run in that order for much of the beginning of the race. Dave was able to work under his teamate for the second position and set his sights on the #77 machine for the lead. Dave got to the back bumper of Fidanza but was not able to get around and suddenly began loosing ground on the leader. After the race we found the stearing rack had broken creating a very difficult racecar to drive. Dave was able to hang on to the car and come in at 5th in the end of 75 laps. Lee Sherwood took home the checkered flag with Eric Beers following close behind. Fidanza slipped back to third after leading the majority of the race, with Hebing and Wollaber rounding out the top 5.

Lancaster 4-30 Results:
Opening weekend at Lancaster had the Modifieds, SST Sportsman, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and the TQ Midgets on hand to kick off the racing season. Dave's first race of 2006 would be the heat race for the TQ's. Like an old shoe that always fits, Dave hopped in the #1 Englewood Collision TQ and drove to victory lane in the first heat. In the TQ feature Dave was looking fast as he started to work on AJ Hessler for the lead when the caution came out. On the next restart Dave went to the outside of Hessler going into turn 1 when AJ decided to turn right to exit the track when his car seemed to break. This move launched Dave off the ground and over the front of the #11 but luckily he landed right side up. The #11 of Hessler was not as fortunate as he rolled the car off turn one. Dave was forced to pit due to a flat right rear and ended up a lap down.

In the Modified feature Dave would run a solid race running in the footsteps of Buck Catalano to take home a third place finish while Tom McGrath ran away with the feature win.
