LRP Results 6/25

A full night of exciting racing tonight at Lancaster. Dave started 14th in the TQ midget feature and didn't waste any time working his way to the front. Dave found a way to make the #1 stick on the outside and began picking off cars from the drop of the green. Dave reeled in teamate Jamie Collard with a couple of laps to go. Dave gave Jamie a run for his money taking the car in deep on the outside on the last lap, but Jamie nipped Dave at the line by less then a car length. Congrats to Jamie on his first win of 2005.
Dave would start the Modified feature in the sixth position. As the real battle of the race took place out front between Bill Mislin and Sege Fidanza, Dave drove a solid race finishing 5th. Sege Fidanza some how managed to get by the #81 of Bill Mislin with 2 to go and drove to victory. Putney, Mangus and Dave rounded out the top 5.

LES 6/24 Quick Results

We finally started to get a better handling car for Dave and it showed right off the bat in the heat race. Dave finished second in the heat race and started 4th in the feature. Dave was up to second late in the race behind the 33b when the caution came out for a wreck at the rear of the field. On the next restart the motor started loading up and killed our restarts. On the restart Sommers (33) and Hoddick (99) both managed to get by when the #51 was misfiring. There would be one more restart before the finish and Dave would unfortunately lose one more spot to Glen Gault (32). We wound up with a fifth place finish and much better handling car then we had last week. We are very excited about the progress we made this week. Look for us next Friday with an even better car.

THE TUESDAY LES SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELED. They scheduled this show to make up for any possible rain outs, since we haven’t had any (knock on wood) the show has been canceled.

Not a good weekend for Wollaber racing.

Friday 6/17 LES:

We have been struggling with the handling on the #51 Visteon Late Model, and this Friday topped it off. Dave had to fight an ill handling car all night and we came home with an 11th place finish. We went back to the drawing board and hope to bring a much better car this Friday.

Saturday 6/18 LRP:

The #5 Modified team hoped to continue on our success the week prior and take home another win this week. A couple laps into the heat race our tired engine went to its final resting place. With a rod in the pan we were without a car for the 50 lap feature, which means zero points for the #5. We came into the night 2 points out of the lead and we were about to take a huge hit in the points chase...... then along came KT, Number6, Kenny Troyer. Kenny offered us the #66 Modified for the feature to try to salvage our night. Well we thought our luck had changed but we were wrong, after making the necessary changes to Kenny's ride, just moments before the feature, the LRP officials kindly informed us that we could not run the tires which Dave ran in the heat race, and which we scaled the car with. We were forced to send Dave out with a mismatched set of tires, and the ill-handling effects could be seen from the start. When the first yellow came out we made a stop to try to loosen the #66 up. Dave went back out with a slightly better car but had to park it when the temperature light came on. When Dave brought the car in we found that the water pump belt was no where to be found. I guess when you combine the luck of the #5 team on Saturday with the bad luck the #66 car has been having this season, it makes for one bad night.

A Very big THANK YOU needs to go out to Kenny Troyer and crew for letting us take out their car, and help us get the smallest guy in the pits to fit in Kenny's car. Sorry we couldn't have driven the #66 to a better finish. Thanks guys.

Wollaber takes the checkered flag at LRP on 6/11

The chance of thunderstorms cleared yesterday and made way for a great night of racing at Lancaster Raceway Park. Dave started the first heat on the outside front row, with Ron Williams leading them to the green flag. Dave quickly took the lead from Williams in Turn 2 and never looked back. Dave was never challenged for the lead and took the heat win. Dave would start the feature from the same position outside of Lee Sherwood and would again take the lead for good going through the first corner. After a caution on lap 1 the Modifieds ran the next 29 laps without incident. Dave would lead all 30 laps on his way to his first Modified win of the season. Sege Fidanza gave Dave everything he had including the chrome horn, but was not fast enough to get past the #5 Englewood collision Modified. Tom McGrath finished third as the front three ran away from the field and appeared to have very even cars.

In other action at LRP.
The #18 of Mark Pennell won the late model race followed by Hoddick and Vern Bliss.

The #60 Justin Shepker won the SST sportsman race followed by Hebing and Holmes

Mike Scott #59 ran away with the Super stock feature. He was followed by Mudra, Evans, Bernhard, and the 34. Probably not in that order.

Results LES 6/10

Once again there was threatening skies over Lake Erie Speedway, but the weather held and we got in another night of Late Model racing.
In the Heat, Dave started 6th in a very competitive heat and at the end of 10 laps finished 6th. Dave wisely backed off to 8th place early in the heat when a couple drivers wanted to go 3-wide, and raced back to 6th. In the feature the #51 FINALLY had an incident free night. Dave started 8th and had worked his way up to 4th looking to take 3d early in the race. Dave’s car appeared to start to come to him when we could get a few laps of green flag racing, but with caution after caution the handling went away and Dave settled for a 7th place finish.

Results Lancaster 6/04

Sorry for the late / brief results I have been on vacation since last Saturday.

Modified Feature 1 - 6th
Modified Feature 2 - 5th
TQ Midget Feature - 2nd

All in all a good day for Wollaber Racing. Two solid finishes in the Modified despite handling problems, and another strong run in the TQ maintaining his points lead.

Results LES 6/03

The new motor was finished and the weather held off on Friday night but the bad luck for the #51 Late Model team unfortunately continued. After getting the new motor broke in Dave raced his way to a fourth place finish in the heat. This gave him a starting position of 8th in the feature. The #51 Visteon Late Model was on the move right from the drop of the green flag. On Lap 8 Dave was taking over second place on the outside from the 9, when Dave was completing the pass there was contact from the 9 into the LR of the Visteon Late Model causing Dave to spin. There may have been contact into the back of the 9 car which caused him to get into us, but we can not be sure. Dave restarted the race in 25th place and fought back to a 10th place finish. The lap 8 incident was very unfortunate, Dave appeared to have a good car and was making quick run to the front. We were happy to be able to race back to a 10th place finish, but our luck surely has to change.
