Not a good weekend for Wollaber racing.
Friday 6/17 LES:
We have been struggling with the handling on the #51 Visteon Late Model, and this Friday topped it off. Dave had to fight an ill handling car all night and we came home with an 11th place finish. We went back to the drawing board and hope to bring a much better car this Friday.
Saturday 6/18 LRP:
The #5 Modified team hoped to continue on our success the week prior and take home another win this week. A couple laps into the heat race our tired engine went to its final resting place. With a rod in the pan we were without a car for the 50 lap feature, which means zero points for the #5. We came into the night 2 points out of the lead and we were about to take a huge hit in the points chase...... then along came KT, Number6, Kenny Troyer. Kenny offered us the #66 Modified for the feature to try to salvage our night. Well we thought our luck had changed but we were wrong, after making the necessary changes to Kenny's ride, just moments before the feature, the LRP officials kindly informed us that we could not run the tires which Dave ran in the heat race, and which we scaled the car with. We were forced to send Dave out with a mismatched set of tires, and the ill-handling effects could be seen from the start. When the first yellow came out we made a stop to try to loosen the #66 up. Dave went back out with a slightly better car but had to park it when the temperature light came on. When Dave brought the car in we found that the water pump belt was no where to be found. I guess when you combine the luck of the #5 team on Saturday with the bad luck the #66 car has been having this season, it makes for one bad night.
A Very big THANK YOU needs to go out to Kenny Troyer and crew for letting us take out their car, and help us get the smallest guy in the pits to fit in Kenny's car. Sorry we couldn't have driven the #66 to a better finish. Thanks guys.
