Weekend Results 8/26 - 8/27

Lake Erie (8/26):
We finally had an incident free night at Lake Erie Speedway this week in the #51 Late Model. Dave started third in the first heat for the late models, he quickly took over second place on lap two and hooked to the back bumper of John Julicher in the 09 for the next 8 laps. Jay Sommers in the 33 would make his presence felt as he battled Dave on the outside as both were looking to get by the 09. Julicher appeared to pick up a push as the heat race progressed, and on lap 9 he pushed up just enough in turn 2 and Dave slipped under him to take the heat win. For the feature the #51 would start in the 6th position. Dave ran a solid race patiently working his way forward from this 6th place starting spot. Dave would find his way up to third and would pull away from the rest of the pack, but Jay Sommers and Todd Hoddick had already checked out on the field as Hoddick slipped under Sommers and won the race by a matter of inches. Dave finished third matching our best finish of the year.

Lancaster (8/27):
Rain hit after practice and once again forced LRP to cancel the races this week. A make-up for the Mr. Modified 50 should be announced this week. We brought the #51 Late Model out on Saturday to get ready for the US Open. The car looked pretty good and we are looking forward to taking the green in the #51 at Lancaster.

LES Results 8/23:

The #51 Late Model was on fire tonight......literally. The day started off pretty good as we found the root cause of our lack of power the last few weeks. The fuel filter was all clogged up and not allowing enough fuel to the carb. Dave went out in the first practice and the car felt pretty good, so we parked the car until the feature (since there was no heats tonight). Dave started 5th in the feature tonight and the car seemed pretty good right at the start of the race as he moved into 4th early in the race. Well good old Murphy and his law were in effect again as the power valve in the carb failed on about lap 5 of the feature. This caused fuel to keep flowing when Dave would lift putting it in the exhaust, and flooding the engine causing a severe bog coming off the corner. Dave held on to it and finished the 40-lap feature in 6th even with the car appearing to be on fire. After the feature the outside of the car did start on fire and had to be put out by the safety crew, and pushed back into the pits. It was once again another disappointing finish to our night, but we will be back on Friday to give it another shot.

Weekend Results 8/12 & 8/13

Lake Erie (8/12):
Rain halted what appeared to be a good run for the #51 Late Model on Friday night. Dave was running 4th on lap 18 of 40 when the rain came causing the race to end just 2 laps shy of a finish. (they need to run 50% of the race to call it a finish in case of rain) No word as of yet when the remainder of the race will be made up.

Lancaster (8/13):
Saturdays race day proved to be more hectic then usual, but all the work payed off in the long run as the #5 had another great run. The day was going fairly smoothly until the heat race. On the second lap coming out of turn 2 the steering rack locked up solid preventing Dave from straightening out the wheel, Dave made an incredible save and kept the heat race going green. Two laps later after it had seemed to fix itself the steering locked up again, but Dave continued and finished the heat race just riding around so that he still qualified for the feature. This is where the mad dash started to get the car ready for the feature, we had to replace the entire steering system, which prevented us from attenending the autograph session. SORRY TO ANY FANS WHO WERE LOOKING FOR US. We had to get the car together so that we could race the feature, and fans feel free to come over to our pit after the race and get your autographs. All the work paid off in the end as Dave had another dominating performance driving away from the field much like he did 2 weeks ago. There was only one difference this week.....we were behind the #22 car. Bobby Holmes fresh off his sportsman win earlier in the night, started on the outside of the front row and took the lead early on with Dave right in his tire tracks. The two young guns pulled a full straightaway lead on 3d place and ran the entire 30 laps under green nose-to-tail. Dave stayed right on Bobby's bumper but was unable to make a move for the lead as Bobby ran a great race and appeared to have a little more off the corner. Congrats to the #22 car for their first mod win, we looking forward to slugging it out the rest of the season.

Weekend Results 8/05-8/07

Friday:
On Friday the Wollaber Racing team was at Lake Erie for our 40-lap late model feature running along with the ARCA race. We were once again thrashing on the car making changes after each session on the track in an attempt to give Dave a better car. The changes proved to pay off as we were one of the fastest cars on the track during the feature. Dave started the race on the outside in 6th. At the start of the race the outside was clearly not where you wanted to be as a slower car up front caused Dave to lose a few spots until he could get to the bottom. At around lap 12 Dave made contact with the 33b causing the 33b to spin and Dave to be sent tail. After begin taken out or run into by the 33b multiple times this year it was good to see us on the other side of the fence for once. Dave would restart 18th after the caution and would waste no time working the #51 Visteon Late Model back to the front. Dave would make his way back to 4th place when the car developed a miss which stopped Daves dash to the front and he settled for 4th. All in all a GREAT night for the #51 team.

Saturday:
DNS at Lancaster in the TQ. Dave's sister Lisa got married to crew member Jeff, so Dave rightfully sat out of Saturday's feature and stood up in his sisters wedding. I think Dave had a large enough lead going into Saturday(after only 4 races, pretty impressive) so that he will maintain his points lead going into the final race.

Sunday:
Dave ran the #1 TQ Midget on Sunday at WCIS. I was not able to attend but from what I hear Dave was running 2nd with 4 laps to go when he was spun out by the 25. Dave ended up with a 8th place finish.
