Persistent light showers canceled the day before the new #5 could roll onto the track. We were able to run the car through the gears to break in the new transmission and get through safety inspection so we should be ready to roll come Saturday Morning.

Saturday looks to bring a solid field of Modifieds out to DTRP and a big thanks should go to Lori for all her hard work in the off season getting these guys to come out to the former Lancaster Speedway. With building a new car we were hoping to get some track time to get the #5 dialed in but the weather did not cooperate so we will have to expedite the process on Saturday Morning. We are back to our setup that took the 2004 Track championship so we should be close but with the new Pinto rack car there are some unknowns.

Should be an exciting opening day with the new 50 Lap distances and a good field of Modifieds. The weather looks great so come out and support your local racing!
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. The upcoming season brings excitment as well as new challenges to the Wollaber Racing team, as we are going after another modified championship but this time without a seperate car owner. We are fortunate to be bringing with us many of our long time sponsors who have helped us be sucessful in the past.

The 2008 car will bring back a familiar number and a familiar paint scheme. Dave will be back in the BLACK #5 just like the one we raced for Dick Stone/Vinny Christiano and took the 2004 Modified Track Championship with.

After a year off from Modified racing, Dave and crew are chomping at the bit to get back to the track and go for another title. Although Dave did not wheel a Mod last season he still managed to pick up two championships behind the wheel of his Christiano #1 TQ Midget. Picking up 10 wins on his way to the Lancaster (now DTRP) and Casey's Series campionships.

The schedule for 2008 is still tentative at this time but the goal is to run all the Dunn Tire Raceway Park (formerly Lancaster Speedway) Modified Shows as well as the ROC modified races at Oswego. Dave will also be piloting the #1 TQ whenever his schedule allows. Our Modified schedule will be largely dependent on the financial situation of the race team. The US Open at Lancaster has been postponed due to weather until 10-7-2006. The TQ midget portion of the US Open will be run this Saturday 9/30, along with the Late Models and Streetstocks

Dave is the 2006 Modified Champion! Dave has picked up his second modified track championship in his young career in a tie with 9-time champion Sege Fidanza. Both drivers had the same amount of Points, wins, seconds, and thirds so it goes in the books as Co-Champs. Dave took home the win in the Lancaster Mid Season championship race on Sunday 8/6/2006. Pulling an all-nighter after the ROC race at Oswego Saturday night, Dave and crew rolled into Lancaster and took home the win in dominant fashion. Dave took the lead on lap-3 and never looked back. This win ended up boosting Dave into the Championship due to the weather cancellations at the end of the season. Dave was working his way through the field after a great pit stop until two cars running right in front of Dave got together and spun leaving Dave no where to go. Dave got tangled with the cars in front damaging the #45 modified beyond the point of return.

6/3 Lancaster : RAIN
6/10 Lancaster : MODS OFF

6/11 WCIS (TQ) : Another Casey's TQ race at WCIS, another win for Dave in the Englewood collision #1 TQ Midget. Dave won in a great battle with the #93 of Jared Turnbull to take home his first checkered flag of 2006.

6/17 Lancaster : In the TQ Midget feature Dave was working on the outside of the #9, when the inside car drove up into the side of Dave putting him back in the field and resulting in a 7th place finish for the #1 TQ. Congrats to Erick Rudolph on taking home the win. In the Modified Feature Dave was forced to start in the back after LRP put him a lap down in the heat race. Dave was quickly working his way to the front when a wreck happened in front of him. Dave was able to get the #45 safely slowed down just in time for the #44 to plow into the back of Dave damaging the rear of the car and pushing him into the pile damaging the RF as well. The crew got Dave back out but he was laps down from repairing the damage on the RF.

6/18 WCIS: Dave was having a great run in the 75-lap ROC North race at "Perry" looking to break out of recent string of bad luck when it happened again. Dave was running in 5th place saving his tires for a end of the race to battle for the win, when a piece of the track hit the oil cooler causing an oil leak from the #45 and forcing Dave to pull off the track. WCIS had the track surface in turn 4 and turn 1 coming apart, throwing chunks of asphalt and damaging many good cars by taking out oil coolers, radiators, and cutting tires. WCIS appears to have addressed the issue and racing should be much improved next time the Mods roll into Wyoming County.

6/24 Lancaster: Dave used the outside groove and a fast car to take second place behind our DeLange racing teammate of Bobby Holmes in the heat race. Dave would start the feature in seventh position quickly moving up to fourth early in the race, then the bad luck struck again. Running side by side behind Dave was the #8 and the #12 of Tom McGrath, the two cars we banging down the back stretch when the #12 of McGrath forgot to slow down for the corner clipping the back of Dave and causing both cars to spin and go to the back of the field. Dave was able to work his way back to 5th before the checkers flew.

7/1 Lancaster ROC: We look to break out with a win at the Firecracker 75-Lap ROC North Race this Saturday.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. At the start of the race Sege Fidanza would take the lead from the #22 of Bobby Holmes and the top 3 (Fidanza, Holmes, Wollaber) would run in that order for much of the beginning of the race. Dave was able to work under his teamate for the second position and set his sights on the #77 machine for the lead. Dave got to the back bumper of Fidanza but was not able to get around and suddenly began loosing ground on the leader. After the race we found the stearing rack had broken creating a very difficult racecar to drive. Dave was able to hang on to the car and come in at 5th in the end of 75 laps. Lee Sherwood took home the checkered flag with Eric Beers following close behind. Fidanza slipped back to third after leading the majority of the race, with Hebing and Wollaber rounding out the top 5.

Lancaster 4-30 Results:
Opening weekend at Lancaster had the Modifieds, SST Sportsman, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and the TQ Midgets on hand to kick off the racing season. Dave's first race of 2006 would be the heat race for the TQ's. Like an old shoe that always fits, Dave hopped in the #1 Englewood Collision TQ and drove to victory lane in the first heat. In the TQ feature Dave was looking fast as he started to work on AJ Hessler for the lead when the caution came out. On the next restart Dave went to the outside of Hessler going into turn 1 when AJ decided to turn right to exit the track when his car seemed to break. This move launched Dave off the ground and over the front of the #11 but luckily he landed right side up. The #11 of Hessler was not as fortunate as he rolled the car off turn one. Dave was forced to pit due to a flat right rear and ended up a lap down.

In the Modified feature Dave would run a solid race running in the footsteps of Buck Catalano to take home a third place finish while Tom McGrath ran away with the feature win.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. After a great 5-year partnership with car owner Dick Stone, it was decided that it was time to explore new opportunities.

Soon after the end of the 2005 season Dave and DeLange Racing agreed to a deal which will have Dave piloting the DeLange racing 2004 Troyer on the ROC tour. Dave's car will be renumbered to #45 with a new paint scheme which will be posted soon. While the new number (45) is unfamiliar to Dave in the modified division it is very familiar to Dave in Victory lane. In Dave's early racing days behind the wheel of a go-cart he drove his #45 cart to numerous victories and championships. The complete 2006 schedule is not yet 100% finalized, but we do know we will be entering all the ROC north races, all the scheduled Modified races at Oswego, as well as the Lancaster weekly shows and other selected modified races.

The new partnership has not only created a great team that is sure to win races in 2006 it also has created a teammate to Dave in the modified division. Dave will have a teammate in the DeLange Racing #22 driven by the 2005 Rookie of the year Bobby Holmes. DeLange Racing will surely be a force where ever we run this season with arguably the two top young guns in the modified division coming from the same stable.

We are excited and looking forward to the 2006 season as the team is busy getting the #45 Modified ready for action back in the shop. In Dave's first ever race at Lancaster in the Late Model he started outside the second row in his heat race. At the start of the race Dave quickly moved into second place and a couple laps later dove under Glen Gault to take the lead. Dave would lead the rest of the race with slight pressure and take home his first heat win. After the re-draw Dave would start the Late Model Feature on the outside of the front row. George Skora was on the pole and took the lead at the start of the race. Dave hung with him for awhile but our car was too loose to challenge him. Dave wound up with a fourth place finish out of 27 cars after running in the top 3 most of the race.

For the Modified heat Dave would start third and after the start of the race that is where he fell into place for the majority of the race. Dave was battling with the second place car for most of the heat as he drove Dave all over the track. Dave finally got under him coming out of 2 and took second in our heat. After the re-draw Dave drew 7 out of 8 so that is where he would start. At the start of the race the front three Scherrer, Putney, and Findanza pulled away from the field as Dave worked his way from 7th up to fourth in the early laps. Scherrer slowed with mechanical problems and Dave found himself in third a full straightaway behind the leaders. Dave locked on and closed the full straightaway lead in a matter of laps to get in the three way battle for the lead. Fidanza managed to get by the 88 of Putney and Dave followed on Sege's tail. Dave the began working over Sege as Dave appeared to have a much faster car. After quite a few laps of battling with the 77, Dave was able to dive low coming out of two and complete the pass. It would appear as though Dave would have driven away from the 77 once he got by but Sege managed to stay within a few car lengths and get close to our bumper but was unable to contest for the lead as Dave took home the checkered flag for the Mr. Modified 50! It was a great way to end a tough season at LRP and will hopefully be a sign of what is to come in the season ending ROC 200 at Oswego and the US Open 125.

Lake Erie (9/9):
This past Friday was our season ending 75 lap feature for the Late Models at Lake Erie Speedway. Dave had a good draw for the heats and started on the outside pole. At the start of the race Dave would take away the lead and run out the 15 lap heat race to take the win. After the re-draw Dave found him self starting 6th for the season finale. It was clearly Todd Hoddick's night tonight as he had a dominant car running out front unchallenged for the win. Dave drove a great smart race patiently working his way toward the front. Some great side by side racing with the 03 of Vern Bliss for about 20 laps at the beginning of the race. As the race was winding down Dave would be running 4th battling with the 27 for third. They ran side by side for the remaining laps and the 27 took third by a matter of inches.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave liked how the car was handling in the first practice so we put new tires on and waited for the heat. Dave started the first Mod heat last and began working on the outside right from the start. Early in the heat racing contact was made between Dave and the 12 which ended up with Dave heading for the outside wall of turn 4. Dave made a save and continued on. The caution came out a couple laps later allowing Dave to catch up to the field and start working his way forward. He slipped under the #1 car coming out of turn 4 to take second place in the heat. This would put us in the 6th starting position for the feature. Right at the drop of the green the #5 looked to be on its way to the front. In the first 2 laps Dave had moved his way up to 3d. After the restart on lap 3 the car seemed to loosen up and get worse and worse as the race progressed. Dave hung on to it and finished a solid 4th behind Scherrer, Sege, and Mangus. When Dave brought the #5 back to the pits we realized the support bracket for the panhard bar ripped right out of the roll bar tubing which caused the rear end to move further and further left each lap as the mount bent over, which made the car looser and looser. We are lucky the mount didn't completely fail, but still another night that shows how our season has been going. Congrats to #80 Brett Scherrer on his win.

WCIS 9/4: Dave took home the checkered flag at WCIS on Sunday in the TQ holding off the 14-year-old young gun Erick Rudolph.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave started third in the first heat for the late models, he quickly took over second place on lap two and hooked to the back bumper of John Julicher in the 09 for the next 8 laps. Jay Sommers in the 33 would make his presence felt as he battled Dave on the outside as both were looking to get by the 09. Julicher appeared to pick up a push as the heat race progressed, and on lap 9 he pushed up just enough in turn 2 and Dave slipped under him to take the heat win. For the feature the #51 would start in the 6th position. Dave ran a solid race patiently working his way forward from this 6th place starting spot. Dave would find his way up to third and would pull away from the rest of the pack, but Jay Sommers and Todd Hoddick had already checked out on the field as Hoddick slipped under Sommers and won the race by a matter of inches. Dave finished third matching our best finish of the year.

Lancaster (8/27):
Rain hit after practice and once again forced LRP to cancel the races this week. A make-up for the Mr. Modified 50 should be announced this week. We brought the #51 Late Model out on Saturday to get ready for the US Open. The car looked pretty good and we are looking forward to taking the green in the #51 at Lancaster.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. The day started off pretty good as we found the root cause of our lack of power the last few weeks. The fuel filter was all clogged up and not allowing enough fuel to the carb. Dave went out in the first practice and the car felt pretty good, so we parked the car until the feature (since there was no heats tonight). Dave started 5th in the feature tonight and the car seemed pretty good right at the start of the race as he moved into 4th early in the race. Well good old Murphy and his law were in effect again as the power valve in the carb failed on about lap 5 of the feature. This caused fuel to keep flowing when Dave would lift putting it in the exhaust, and flooding the engine causing a severe bog coming off the corner. Dave held on to it and finished the 40-lap feature in 6th even with the car appearing to be on fire. After the feature the outside of the car did start on fire and had to be put out by the safety crew, and pushed back into the pits. It was once again another disappointing finish to our night, but we will be back on Friday to give it another shot.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave was running 4th on lap 18 of 40 when the rain came causing the race to end just 2 laps shy of a finish. (they need to run 50% of the race to call it a finish in case of rain) No word as of yet when the remainder of the race will be made up.

Lancaster (8/13):
Saturdays race day proved to be more hectic then usual, but all the work payed off in the long run as the #5 had another great run. The day was going fairly smoothly until the heat race. On the second lap coming out of turn 2 the steering rack locked up solid preventing Dave from straightening out the wheel, Dave made an incredible save and kept the heat race going green. Two laps later after it had seemed to fix itself the steering locked up again, but Dave continued and finished the heat race just riding around so that he still qualified for the feature. This is where the mad dash started to get the car ready for the feature, we had to replace the entire steering system, which prevented us from attenending the autograph session. SORRY TO ANY FANS WHO WERE LOOKING FOR US. We had to get the car together so that we could race the feature, and fans feel free to come over to our pit after the race and get your autographs. All the work paid off in the end as Dave had another dominating performance driving away from the field much like he did 2 weeks ago. There was only one difference this week.....we were behind the #22 car. Bobby Holmes fresh off his sportsman win earlier in the night, started on the outside of the front row and took the lead early on with Dave right in his tire tracks. The two young guns pulled a full straightaway lead on 3d place and ran the entire 30 laps under green nose-to-tail. Dave stayed right on Bobby's bumper but was unable to make a move for the lead as Bobby ran a great race and appeared to have a little more off the corner. Congrats to the #22 car for their first mod win, we looking forward to slugging it out the rest of the season.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. We were once again thrashing on the car making changes after each session on the track in an attempt to give Dave a better car. The changes proved to pay off as we were one of the fastest cars on the track during the feature. Dave started the race on the outside in 6th. At the start of the race the outside was clearly not where you wanted to be as a slower car up front caused Dave to lose a few spots until he could get to the bottom. At around lap 12 Dave made contact with the 33b causing the 33b to spin and Dave to be sent tail. After begin taken out or run into by the 33b multiple times this year it was good to see us on the other side of the fence for once. Dave would restart 18th after the caution and would waste no time working the #51 Visteon Late Model back to the front. Dave would make his way back to 4th place when the car developed a miss which stopped Daves dash to the front and he settled for 4th. All in all a GREAT night for the #51 team.

Saturday:
DNS at Lancaster in the TQ. Dave's sister Lisa got married to crew member Jeff, so Dave rightfully sat out of Saturday's feature and stood up in his sisters wedding. I think Dave had a large enough lead going into Saturday(after only 4 races, pretty impressive) so that he will maintain his points lead going into the final race.

Sunday:
Dave ran the #1 TQ Midget on Sunday at WCIS. I was not able to attend but from what I hear Dave was running 2nd with 4 laps to go when he was spun out by the 25. Dave ended up with a 8th place finish.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. After two straight weeks of caution free racing before the 100-lapper we had another crashfest this week. Dave was able to avoid the majority of the carnage and come out with another 5th place finish. Although we hoped to run better, another 5th place finish isn't bad considering we dropped back to 11th or 12th when the 33b drove into the side of us. Once again the action was up front, for the second week in a row the 33 has spun the leader coming out of 4 on the last lap. This week he would cross the finish line first but get penalized for his actions and the win would go to the 19.

LRP Results:
One big mistake took a night of highs and lows to the ultimate low this Saturday at Lancaster. The day started out on a high as we had our new steel headed Tarnowski motor in this week after borrowing an aluminum head motor the past several weeks. When you run an aluminum head motor the car has to be heavier so we had to take weight out of the car for our new motor this week. We scaled and setup the car Saturday morning oblivious to the error we had made in that process. Dave started his heat on the outside of the front row and beat the #1 in a drag race down the front stretch to take the lead, he then put it in cruise control and drove away from the field taking home the heat win. Dave then started the feature in third. Dave was looking under Tim Mangus early in the race when the 93 either didn't realize Dave was low, or was trying to pinch him off, but either way they made contact while going for the same piece of the racetrack and the 93 spun. Dave was sent to the tail of the field for the contact with the 93. Not long after the restart another caution came out for a wreck in turn 2. Dave made it through with minor bumper damage, and would be put up to second place for the next restart. We were not completely sure why he was put up to second, I thought he should have been 3d or fourth, unless the 77 car was penalized for some part of the wreck. On the next restart Dave began working on Tom McGrath for the lead, Dave took the lead with about 5 laps left and drove away for the apparent victory. In post race tech we found out we were over the limit for left side weight and disqualified. This was the result of an oversight on my part when scaling the car that morning. I'm not sure if it was because the Late Model is 56% left side or just simply the result of the routine of checking the Modified and having 54.8% (rule is 55%) but we accidentally setup the car to the wrong spec and it took away a great win. Having more left side weight is obviously an advantage but we still feel confident we can get that same handling back for the next Mod race. We had a win given to us 2 years ago for another driver being heavy on left side weight and I guess we now know how that can happen and how it feels to have a win taken away. I apologize to all the fans and sponsors for our mistake, we will be back after them in 2 weeks. (Mods are off next week)
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave knew he had to get to the front fast to prevent the guys up front from running away with it. Dave took it into turn one wide open on the outside and exited turn two in fourth place. The Red flag came out on lap 2 when Erick Rudolph was turned and then flipped on his lid. Erick was fine and the race resumed after a short break. Dave had maneuvered his way to second place by the time the red flag came out on lap 2. On the next restart Dave lost some ground on the leader as he powered away, but as soon as Dave could get the #1 back up to speed he made the pass and held off a hard charging James Michael Friesen who was fighting a loose race car. For the big event the Late Models time trialed with the top-10 being locked into the top 10 positions for the feature and the remaining cars having to race their way in through the heats and consi. We actually pulled a low number, which turned out the be the opposite of what we wanted. The numbers decided the qualifying order and we rolled off second behind Mark Bliss. Dave turned a pretty quick lap but as the sun went down and the track cooled the lap times improved through the end of qualifying. We were not one of the top-10 time trialers so we had to race our way in through the heat, Dave finished 3d in his heat which gave up a starting spot of 18th for the feature. After some significant changes before the feature Dave appeared to have a good car right from the start of the 100 lap main event. Dave started patiently picking off cars and worked his way up to the top 10 when our luck apparently ran out. Some tight racing caused #1 car spun in turn 1, Dave went high but the #1 backed up the track into our left front, breaking the tie rod. It was disappointing ending for the #51 as we appeared to be on our way to a solid finish.

The real excitement happened up front as Jay Sommers took the challenge to start last and go for an extra $5,000 if he won from the last starting position. He made his way all the way to second and coming out of 4 on the last lap he dumped Mark Bliss in the #0 and ended up spinning out himself as well. Bliss had led 84 laps and ran a great race, this handed the lead to Vern Bliss who takes home the win.

Tonight TQ Midget at LES along with the ROC mods and SST mods.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave started 3d in our heat race and had a solid run taking home a second place finish. After LRP changed the modified feature line-up 4 times we started 5th in the feature......I think. The problem with the line-up was due to Dave and McGrath being tied for "money won" over the last 3 races. For anyone who is wondering what that means, they set the line-up by taking all the qualified cars and putting the driver with the least money won over the past 3 weeks on the pole and the most money won last of the qualified cars. Since Dave and McGrath were tied, they usually then go back to points and whoever has the least points starts in front of the driver with more points...hence the handicapping system. Well apparently someone at the track overruled the official and changed their procedure for last night. This proved to hurt us on the start as the Inside row did not go and the outside 3 cars took the top 3 spots. This moved us back 7th at the beginning of the race, after a number of attempts to get the race going the Mods finally completed 30 laps with Hehr taking home his third win of the season. Dave struggled with an ill handling car and finished 5th. After having a tight but good car in the heat our adjustments seemed to create a very unstable car for the feature. Chuck Hossfeld finished second, Bobby Holmes had an impressive run finishing 3d.

Tonight (7/22): 100 lap Late Model race at Lake Erie Speedway
Tomorrow (7/23): TQ Midget race at Lake Erie Speedway
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. LES packed the house tonight as it appeared to be the biggest crowd yet at the 3/8mi oval. Dave, Vern Bliss and Todd Hoddick put on a show in the second heat of the night. Dave and Vern battled side by side for 10 laps as Bliss took the heat win by a matter of inches. The #51 Visteon late model continued to improve as Dave took home another 5th place finish. Dave got hung outside at the start of the race and dropped back a few spots but as soon as he got some racing room he started working his way back to the front. Dave appeared to have the faster car but had to settle for 5th as Bliss and Gault battled side by side and gave no room for Dave get by. Tonight was another positive night as we work our way to putting the #51 in Victory Lane.

Next week at LES 100-lap late model race on Friday and 25-lap TQ race on Saturday.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave started 10th among the field of 15 TQ's. The #1 Englewood Collision TQ was hooked up again last night, Dave quickly made his way to the front and drove away from the field for the win.

The modifieds rounded out the night with 16 cars in the field. The Mods ran clean and completed all 30 laps without a caution. The #5 was struggling early in the race with a tight racecar, but as Dave got more laps on the tires the car really started to come in. Over the last 10 laps Dave closed a full straightaway gap but ran out of laps to make a move on McGrath for third. Looks like we found out 50-75 lap setup. Dave wound up 4th with Sege taking the win, Mangus, McGrath, Dave and Hehr rounding out the top 5.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. The #51 Visteon Late Model team brought a completely new setup for this week to try to eliminate our handling foes. The new setup was a little off right out of the box but the crew continued to make changes and got the car pretty close by the end of the night. Dave had a solid run in the feature finishing 5th. It took a few laps for handling on the #51 to come in, so Dave dropped back a few spots at the start but once the handling came back we were starting to run the leaders down. Had there been a caution with a few laps to go we may have had something for them. All in all it was a good night for the #51 we now have a solid setup to build off of for next week. Vern Bliss took home the win after leading most of the race and holding off Glen Gault. Todd Hoddick, Jay Sommers, and Dave rounded out the top 5.

Modified and TQ midget tonight at Lancaster Raceway Park!!
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. We look to improve on last weeks 2nd place run and get back some of the points lost when we broke the engine a few weeks back. We were all looking forward to our first ROC race of 2005, but it proved to be short lived. About 30 modifieds made an appearance at LRP for the 75 lap event. The bad luck started early as Dave had to start dead last (9th) in our heat because the #5 drew 99 out of 100 for starting positions. Dave began making his way up the redraw position but some rough driving between the 70 and 81 right in front of Dave caused him to back off and loose a position, he wound up finishing 5th in his heat. For the feature we would start 17th and right from the drop of the green Dave began picking off cars making his way to the front, until around lap 8 when Dave had to get on the breaks hard to avoid a spinning Karl Hehr in front. Dave swiftly avoided the wreck but in the process of getting the car slowed down the left front spindle broke at the tie rod end, RIGHT THROUGH THE WELD. Since the spindle broke simply due to the torque from getting on the breaks it makes you question the quality of the spindle. Since there was NO welder at the track yesterday (THANKS LRP) our day was done.

On a side note, I will be out of town until Monday so the results from LES tonight and LRP tomorrow will not be updated until then. Dave started 14th in the TQ midget feature and didn't waste any time working his way to the front. Dave found a way to make the #1 stick on the outside and began picking off cars from the drop of the green. Dave reeled in teamate Jamie Collard with a couple of laps to go. Dave gave Jamie a run for his money taking the car in deep on the outside on the last lap, but Jamie nipped Dave at the line by less then a car length. Congrats to Jamie on his first win of 2005.
Dave would start the Modified feature in the sixth position. As the real battle of the race took place out front between Bill Mislin and Sege Fidanza, Dave drove a solid race finishing 5th. Sege Fidanza some how managed to get by the #81 of Bill Mislin with 2 to go and drove to victory. Putney, Mangus and Dave rounded out the top 5.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave finished second in the heat race and started 4th in the feature. Dave was up to second late in the race behind the 33b when the caution came out for a wreck at the rear of the field. On the next restart the motor started loading up and killed our restarts. On the restart Sommers (33) and Hoddick (99) both managed to get by when the #51 was misfiring. There would be one more restart before the finish and Dave would unfortunately lose one more spot to Glen Gault (32). We wound up with a fifth place finish and much better handling car then we had last week. We are very excited about the progress we made this week. Look for us next Friday with an even better car.

THE TUESDAY LES SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELED. They scheduled this show to make up for any possible rain outs, since we haven’t had any (knock on wood) the show has been canceled.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave had to fight an ill handling car all night and we came home with an 11th place finish. We went back to the drawing board and hope to bring a much better car this Friday.

Saturday 6/18 LRP:

The #5 Modified team hoped to continue on our success the week prior and take home another win this week. A couple laps into the heat race our tired engine went to its final resting place. With a rod in the pan we were without a car for the 50 lap feature, which means zero points for the #5. We came into the night 2 points out of the lead and we were about to take a huge hit in the points chase...... then along came KT, Number6, Kenny Troyer. Kenny offered us the #66 Modified for the feature to try to salvage our night. Well we thought our luck had changed but we were wrong, after making the necessary changes to Kenny's ride, just moments before the feature, the LRP officials kindly informed us that we could not run the tires which Dave ran in the heat race, and which we scaled the car with. We were forced to send Dave out with a mismatched set of tires, and the ill-handling effects could be seen from the start. When the first yellow came out we made a stop to try to loosen the #66 up. Dave went back out with a slightly better car but had to park it when the temperature light came on. When Dave brought the car in we found that the water pump belt was no where to be found. I guess when you combine the luck of the #5 team on Saturday with the bad luck the #66 car has been having this season, it makes for one bad night.

A Very big THANK YOU needs to go out to Kenny Troyer and crew for letting us take out their car, and help us get the smallest guy in the pits to fit in Kenny's car. Sorry we couldn't have driven the #66 to a better finish. Thanks guys.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave started the first heat on the outside front row, with Ron Williams leading them to the green flag. Dave quickly took the lead from Williams in Turn 2 and never looked back. Dave was never challenged for the lead and took the heat win. Dave would start the feature from the same position outside of Lee Sherwood and would again take the lead for good going through the first corner. After a caution on lap 1 the Modifieds ran the next 29 laps without incident. Dave would lead all 30 laps on his way to his first Modified win of the season. Sege Fidanza gave Dave everything he had including the chrome horn, but was not fast enough to get past the #5 Englewood collision Modified. After getting the new motor broke in Dave raced his way to a fourth place finish in the heat. This gave him a starting position of 8th in the feature. The #51 Visteon Late Model was on the move right from the drop of the green flag. On Lap 8 Dave was taking over second place on the outside from the 9, when Dave was completing the pass there was contact from the 9 into the LR of the Visteon Late Model causing Dave to spin. There may have been contact into the back of the 9 car which caused him to get into us, but we can not be sure. Dave restarted the race in 25th place and fought back to a 10th place finish. The lap 8 incident was very unfortunate, Dave appeared to have a good car and was making quick run to the front. We were happy to be able to race back to a 10th place finish, but our luck surely has to change.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. We lost the motor in the Late Model last week in the feature and the parts to put together the new motor did not come in time for this week. So if you were wondering why we were a no show this week, that is why. That is also why we are hoping for rain this week so that the #51 Visteon Late model does not miss a week of racing. After the DNF last week, missing a week of racing will really hurt us in the points.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog. Dave took the Heat race win and battled for a Third place finish in the feature. We were happy with the way the season started but our luck has seemed to change since then.

May 6th: In the heat race some 3 wide action down the front stretch caused contact between Dave and the 09. The contact cut down the RF tire so Dave had to make a pit stop. We were able to get the tire changed and get him back out on the lead lap. Dave raced his way back to 4th in the 10 lap heat race. In the feature Dave was fighting a tight racecar all night. Dave had settled into 6th place and was hoping to ride it out the rest of the race until the 33b lost his patience with 3 laps to go and dumped us in turn 3. In the last 3 laps Dave was able to battle back to salvage a 14th place finish. According to the 33b he couldn't go to the outside because he didn't have a mirror?!?

May 13th: The day started off much better as we raced to second place in the heat race. At the start of the feature the #51 looked strong fighting on the outside and taking the lead for a couple laps. At about 1/2 way through the race the #51 picked up a terrible push which was getting worse as the race progressed. Dave held onto it for the remainder of the race to finish 10th. After the race we found the RF was going flat and ruined our chance for what seemed to be a sure top-5 finish.

May 20th: After a poor run in the heat race due to a setup problem and a 6th place finish, the crew made some changes to the #51 and after the first few laps it was evident they made the right adjustments. Dave was turning some fast lap times and was looking to take second place away from the eventual winner when the motor let go. This was a disappointing end to what looked to be a good run. We ended up about 20 laps down in 23d place.

Lake Erie has been a great place to run this year with impressive car counts (over 25 Late Models each week)Our luck has to change soon and we will be back up front!

Lancaster Raceway Park
May 7th: This is our first and only Modified race we have gotten in so far this year. Mother nature has not been too friendly to the racers and fans at Lancaster so far. The #5 started the 2005 season much like 2004 with consistent top 5 finishes. Dave raced to a 2nd place finish in the heat race, and had another solid run in the feature finishing 4th.

May 21st: We were able to get in the TQ Midget feature before the rain came last Saturday. Dave continued his winning ways in the TQ division taking the lead early and holding off a hard charging AJ Hessler to take the checkered flag.
Dave Wollaber Racing Blog.
